On the shores of the Lesser Caribbean

The Lesser Caribbean Islands are an archipelago that is part of the Caribbean Islands. Although all the islands are located nearby and their history is very similar, each of them has its own personality.
The Leeward Islands are part of the Lesser Caribbean Islands. They are located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea. Due to the fact that the islands are open to the winds, they received this name. Antigua, together with Barbuda, form one state. The capital of the island is St. John's. The entrance to the harbor is protected by the powerful walls of Forts Barington and James. In the city center is the Cathedral of St. John. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with Caribbean pine.

To the north of the Leeward Islands are more than a hundred small islands that are known as the Virgin Islands. They are divided into two parts - British and American. Both parts are different from each other. The British part has not lost its simple, provincial atmosphere, while the American part is full of life.
The island of St. John is home to the Virgin Islands National Park. More than 800 species of flora are represented here. The fauna of the national park is also rich. It is worth noting that this reserve was created with funds from the American billionaire L. Rockefeller.

Not far from Saint John is the island of Tortola. It is the largest island of the British Virgin Islands. Among the attractions it is worth highlighting the botanical garden and the Ethnographic Museum, where you can see exhibits from sunken ships.
