The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is another place in the Caribbean that invariably arouses interest among travelers. Such large-scale popularity is easily explained - the richest flora and fauna, excellent recreation, developed infrastructure, plus local colorful traditions are more than conducive to choosing this independent state from a variety of worthy candidates. If we add the azure-steamy waves caressing the pearly sand of the beaches, and the friendly sun, which is practically not hidden behind the clouds, then we can say with one hundred percent confidence that your vacation here will be a great success.
The capital of Trinidad and Tobago
The port city of Port of Spain is the center of economic, cultural and political life of the republic. The capital was founded by Spanish colonialists in the 16th century on the site of the ancient Indian Conkerabium in Trinidad. The beautiful city received a new name at the very end of the 18th century, passing into the possession of the powerful British Empire. Today, Port of Spain is contrastingly different from the megacities familiar to Europeans - the capital, built up with ultra-modern buildings, is literally blooming, immersed in the luxurious greenery of gardens. Guests are attracted by the amazing mixture of Islamic, Hindu and Christian cultures, visible in literally everything: traditions, cuisine, religion, architecture.
Attractions: Anglican Cathedral of the early 19th century, Catholic Bicentennial Church, National Museum, Art Gallery, Savannah - Royal Botanical Garden, Independence Square, State History Museum, Magnificent Seven Park, National Archives, Ginderbread House, Holy Trinity Cathedral.
Islands belonging to Trinidad and Tobago
The lands of the Trinidad and Tobago archipelago, territorially equal to 5,128 km², are located seven miles north of Venezuela and just south of Grenada. The series of large and small islands is conditionally divided into several subgroups:
• The main ones are, in fact, Tobago and Trinidad themselves.
• The seven Bocas Islands - Chacachacare, Huevos, Parasol Rocks, Gaspar Grande, Monos, Cavresse, Gasparillo - are located in the picturesque Bocas del Dragon Bay between the Venezuelan Paria Peninsula and Trinidad.
• The so-called Five Islands, although in fact there are six of them: Lenagan Island, Craig Island, Pelican Island, Nelson Island, Rock Island, Caledonia. They are located west of the capital in the same bay.
• Near Trinidad: Soldado Rock, Faralon Rock, So d'O.
• Near Tobago: Goat Island, St. Giles Island, Little Tobago, Sisters Rock.
The wonderful Caribbean islands are washed by the sea of the same name and the majestic Atlantic Ocean. The average annual temperature is about 26˚, the period from the beginning of summer to December is considered the tropical rainy season, from the first month of the year to May is dry and the most comfortable for a fantastic holiday.
Trinidad
Isle Trinidad is several times larger in area than its brother Tobago. The bulk of the local population lives on an area of 4,821 km² - more than 96%. The Caribbean island is 59 km wide and 80 km long. Those wishing to relax on beautiful, clean beaches, the most popular of which are Maracas Bay, Tayrico Bay and Las Cuelvas, should settle behind the mountain range on the northern coast - the charm of a resort atmosphere with a full range of offers for a carefree life awaits here. To satisfy your cultural hunger, just cross the ridge - the capital is full of architectural monuments, entertainment and shopping centers, exhibitions, museums, concerts, huge restaurants and tiny cozy cafes.
If you get tired of admiring (although this is difficult to imagine) the luxurious Caribbean Sea, then you can go to the southwest of the island to a lake with... asphalt mass. The delightfully pristine Asa Rait center will delight ecotourists - the conservation area, converted from endless coconut plantations, is home to many birds, and then you can continue the excursion into the Karoni marsh reserve. Prudent music lovers travelers prefer November tours, since the largest jazz festival is held here at the end of autumn.
Tobago
Isle Tobago Compared to Trinidad, it is small - its area is only 303 km², which does not in any way affect the quality of recreation. This is an unspoken statement, since in 2004 at the London World Travel Fair the exotic baby was awarded the title of “Best Caribbean Island of the Year”.
The administrative center is Scarborough. The first capital - Georgetown (today the village of Mount St. George) - is one of the attractions of Tobago. The most visited places by tourists: Studley Park, on the territory of which the first historical colorful cafe First Historical Cafe operates, the original settlements of Goldsborough, Goodwood, Roxborough, Pembroke, the oldest sugar cane plantation Richmond Great House and the delightful collection of textiles and works of African art located here, the highest on the island, the 54-meter Argyle Falls, the incredibly beautiful Kings Bay with the best local beach, the Speyside nature reserve with evergreen forests.
Visa regime for Trinidad and Tobago
For Russian citizens who do not intend to stay in the country for more than three months, a visa is not required.
Advice for citizens of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus: you need to take care of your documents in advance, since you won’t be able to travel to Trinidad and Tobago without a visa.
A dizzying resort extravaganza awaits tourists in Trinidad and Tobago: participation in sparkling carnivals and a relaxing holiday on the beach, active pastime and romantic solitude, varied leisure time and a flurry of impressions. It cannot be otherwise, since the magical Caribbean is always a holiday, summer, and incomparable delight.
