A stunning landscape, as if woven from the rays of the sun, sea blue, lush greenery - this is Carioca. This is exactly how a Caribbean island opens up to a traveler who decides to spend a vacation in a picturesque corner. And it doesn’t matter what the purpose of the voyage is - to improve your health, have fun, see or unwind - here everyone finds exactly what they came for.

The sunny island of Carioca, also known as Carriacou, is an integral part of the Lesser Antilles. The earth's eden, equal to 34 km², is located in the Grenadine archipelago northeast of Grenada, of which it is, in fact, considered a dependent territory. The coastline is washed by the Caribbean Sea.
The largest population center in Carioca is the city of Hillsboro. The total number of locals, whose main source of income is the tourism industry, is about seven thousand people.
Holidays in Carioca
Staying on the island guarantees a wide variety of leisure activities. Figuratively speaking, recreation here can be divided into several areas:
• everything related to the sea - sunbathing and swimming, water parks, diving, boat trips, independent promenades on pedal boats, windsurfing, fishing, yachting;
• all kinds of sports with the provision of appropriate equipment;
• forays to neighboring islands;
• participation in fiery celebrations and original shows;
• gourmet tours to small bars and respectable drinking establishments;
• healing procedures, including effective massage, hydromanipulation, aromatherapy;
• research of natural eco-beauties;
• exciting shopping in tiny souvenir shops, ultra-modern shopping centers, port duty-free shops, fish markets.
Of course, this is not all that hospitable Carioca offers. Trips for companies, romantic tours, holidays with children - in other words, the holiday will fully satisfy even the most fastidious travelers. The only thing is that to get the full experience, it is advisable to stay here for at least a week, since a one-day excursion as part of a cruise will not reveal all the charm of the cozy island.
The nature of Karioki
Whatever, lovers of gorgeous landscapes in Carioca will definitely not be offended - the beautiful views impress everyone without exception. The greenery of the mangroves looks organic against the backdrop of the turquoise-crystal sea, groves of fruit trees are buried in bloom, and exotic plants of incredible shades are climbing. There are a lot of birds, whose life both adult travelers and young tourists enjoy observing.
Openwork coral reefs are a natural attraction of Carioca. Thanks to this natural barrier, swimming near the coast is absolutely safe, while in open waters there is a risk of not being able to cope with unpredictable currents or encountering a predator. The underwater world is very diverse and colorful, which is why diving enthusiasts rush to the blessed island.
There are no rivers in Carioca at all; fresh water here is worth its weight in gold. To replenish its reserves, locals collect rain moisture and use it extremely sparingly. However, the water shortage does not affect tourists - everything on the island is focused on the comfort of visitors.
Attractions Carioca
The Caribbean is traditionally generous with its attractions, and Carioca is no exception. Here it’s possible to combine both beach nirvana and soak up impressions. Visitors highly value the popular Tyrell Bay beach, famous for its clear waters, velvety sand, fantastic scenery and excellent local rum. It wouldn't hurt to check out the Carioca Museum. It contains everything related to history, inhabitants, events, from the dark times of slavery to modern exhibitions.
If the tour falls at the end of August, then it is advisable not to miss the start of the large-scale Carioca Regatta. Races on water beauties are spectacular in themselves, but not only they delight travelers - the beginning of the competition is accompanied by a general celebration with street shows, dancing, and tastings.
By the way, about tastings. Not only alcohol-containing cocktails and sizzling rum will delight gourmets, but also exotic dishes. Tourists, returning to their snowy homeland, will be able to brag to their friends that they feasted on the meat of a real iguana grilled over charcoal, sea urchin caviar, and armadillo stewed with aromatic spices.
When is the best time to go to Carioca
Carioca is one of the islands with a reduced risk of hurricanes. The period from late autumn to early summer is considered dry. The average temperature is very comfortable for a busy holiday; it practically never falls below +23˚ and rarely rises above +32˚.
The gentle hum of the boundless elements, fresh clean air, pristine nature, plenty of entertainment, hospitable hosts... Whatever you say, a voyage to Carioca can truly be called a fairy tale in reality!
