The state of Saint Kitts and Nevis is worth visiting for the sake of a sunny fairy tale, which is so lacking in modern times. Pristine nature, interesting excursion offers, modernity with a touch of original chic - the Caribbean islands are always open, friendly, incomprehensible.
The chair of Saint Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre (accent on the second syllable) is the main administrative unit of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Founded in 1627, it is the oldest West Indian city. The history of the capital has many tragic notes: colonial civil strife, fires, riots, change of foreign owners and, as a consequence, names (the first St. Christophe), floods, earthquakes. However, despite past disasters, the island is thriving, and the skillfully restored buildings evoke nothing but admiration among tourists.
Basseterre is located on Saint Kitts - one of the two islands of the state. The area of the capital is just over 6 km², the population exceeds 11,000 people.
Islands belonging to Saint Kitts and Nevis
The country, rightfully considered the smallest in the Western Hemisphere, consists of two islands: Nevis and Saint Kitts. Administratively, the entire territory is divided into fourteen districts: five of them are located in Nevis, fourteen in St. Kitts. The Narrows Strait is the dividing line, and the radiant Caribbean Sea washes the land. The tourism industry here is booming, cafes, bars, restaurants, karaoke rooms, casinos are open for visitors around the clock, all conditions have been created for a wonderful holiday in resort areas, hotel and shopping complexes, and on the beaches.
Saint Kitts
Isle Saint Kitts, compared to its “brother”, it is larger - the total territory is 168 km², the length and width are 37 km and 11 km, respectively. In the north, the height of the Liamuiga volcanic massif reaches 1156 meters, the southeastern part is relatively flat. Closest neighbors: Barbuda and Antigua, Montserrat, St. Eustatius, St. Barthelemy.
Despite its apparent compactness, the island is famous for its many beaches, the most visited of which is Cockleshell Bay. The nature is breathtakingly beautiful; it is not surprising that sea activities, horseback riding and walking eco-tours, and exciting parachute flights are extremely popular in St. Kitts. Main attractions: the “gray-haired” fort of Brimstone Hill Fortress along with the park of the same name, the Museum of Colonial History, the gallery of the British artist Kate Spencer, the ancient plantation of Old Road Town, the mini-factory of Caribel batik.
Nevis
Isle Nevis (93 km²) is almost half the size of St. Kitts. The number one city here is Charlestown. Relatively close to the islands of Puerto Rico and Antigua, well-known throughout the Caribbean (and throughout the world).
Nevis is more suitable for lovers of silence, thoroughness, and for families with children. Clean, cozy hotels, the height of which does not exceed (by special order) two floors, rejuvenating and healing SPA treatments, including thermal baths, excellent cuisine, sailing on yachts, picnics after successful sea fishing, active pastime and blissful nirvana of idleness - this is what relaxation is on Nevis.
Attractions include: collections of things that once belonged to two famous islanders - Hamilton and Nelson, colonial architecture, a philatelic bureau, one of the oldest synagogues in the Caribbean, and a medical resort area that has been operating since 1778.
Visa regime for Saint Kitts and Nevis
For citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, entry is visa-free. Required: travel voucher, international passport, proof of solvency, return ticket. It is noteworthy that the welcoming party may refuse hospitality if the potential tourist looks inappropriate.
Vacations in St. Kitts and Nevis, soaked in sea freshness, will be remembered forever. Yes, the dream of visiting here came true, but it was replaced by another - to return to the beautiful islands again. To once again feel the gentle embrace of the sea, the fresh kisses of the breeze, be imbued with the love of the sun and understand that life is a success!
