Any Caribbean island deserves to be called the pearl of a sultry region. However, Margarita stands apart in this list as an exotic one; she can really be called that - her distant Indian ancestors hunted for pearls. It is not surprising that after the Europeans discovered the fertile land, it quickly turned into a colony. Since the early 80s, the tropical paradise has become loved by tourists hungry for entertainment, decent relaxation, and excellent service. And a southern fairy tale on the coast of the sea, merging with the azure-satin skies.

Margarita flourishes in the northeastern part of Venezuela, in the south of the Caribbean Sea, located almost on the equator. About 420 thousand people live on an area of 1071 km², most of whom are employed in the tourism industry. If you look from above, the territory is a pair of mountain ranges connected by a narrow sandy spit, about 18 km long. The distance between the mainland and the strait is about 22 km.
The island is rightfully considered the largest in Venezuelan possessions: its length is almost 70 km, its width reaches 34.6 km. Together with neighboring Cubagua and Coche, beautiful Margarita is part of the province of New Sparta (Nueva Esparta). In addition to the islands mentioned, it neighbors La Blanca to the north, Trinidad and Tobago to the east, and an archipelago including Bonaire, Aruba and Curacoa to the west.
Rest on Margarita
Margarita and relaxation are synonymous. On the one hand, prices, by Caribbean standards, are not considered exorbitant, on the other, the island’s rating is very high among moneybags, therefore, the conditions are luxurious: excellent roads, well-appointed neighborhoods, hotel service will satisfy even a biased public. Cafes and restaurants offer excellent cuisine, the basis of which, of course, is seafood. The enchanting programs of nightlife establishments have no equal in drive, color, and expressiveness. It is also worth considering the fact that Venezuela as a whole, alas, is not a model of security, but Margarita is a pleasant exception - crime is at a very low level.
What else can the Caribbean indulge in a la Margarita? Everyone! People come here primarily because of the sea. Accordingly, there is enough marine entertainment for newlyweds, families with children, and single tourists. The 315 km coastline has plenty of beaches with silky sand, glossy greenery and resort-appropriate offerings. Wild fishing? No question, they will provide you with both gear and professional escorts. Are the depths beckoning? You are always welcome, the instructors will show, tell, and help. Do you want to experience the filibuster environment? If you had that same desire, the rest would not be a problem. Need equipment for languid beach nirvana or a secluded picnic by the night surf? A half hint is enough. In other words, when planning a vacation on Margarita, you can be sure that it will be a hundred, no, a thousand percent successful.
Nature of Margarita
It’s impossible not to fall in love with the fantastic Margarita! Beaches are a separate matter. Pampatar, Playa Guacuco, El Tirano, Playa Manzanillo, La Galera, El Yaque and many, many others are suitable not only for sunbathing and swimming, but also provide ideal conditions for lovers of eco-tours. The latter, by the way, is considered one of the best beaches on the planet.

And the symbols of Margarita are appropriate: the Flor de Mayo orchid, the Araguani tree, the wonderfully singing Turpial bird.
